Circa 6th-7th centuries. Weight of 6 Ounkia (Orichalcum, 49 mm, 162.79 g), a circular discoid commercial weight with centering holes, raised rims and a double-grooved edge. Γᴑ S with cross above; all engraved in outline and inlaid in silver; all within stylized laurel wreath; suspension loop attached at center. Rev. Blank. Bendall 115. CPAI 3.2, 160-161. MAH 29 = Pondera 12243. Carefully engraved and beautifully patinated. The inlays missing, otherwise, extremely fine.

What makes this weight particularly interesting is the intact suspension loop attached to its obverse, with which it could be hanged on a hook or string
